Favorite Time of The Year
Christmas has always been my favorite time of year. There’s something about the season that feels like pure magic, a sense of warmth, nostalgia, and togetherness that makes everything brighter. Maybe it’s the lights, the music, or the smell of fresh pine, but every December, I find myself diving into the Christmas spirit.
One of the things I love most about Christmas is the way our
family traditions have stayed intact over the years. Even now, my grandma still
asks my sister and me for our Christmas lists. We’re 24 and 22, so you’d think
we might be past that point, but it’s something she’s done since we were kids,
and it’s one of those small gestures that makes the season feel extra special.
Every year, she’ll call or text, asking what we want. No matter how old we get,
it’s her way of staying connected, reminding us that we’re always her “little
ones.” It’s a tradition that always brings a smile to my face and makes me feel
so grateful for the family bonds we share.
Another highlight of the holiday season is our big family
dinner. It’s held at my parents’ house, and my dad goes all out. He’s the cook
in the family, and he takes Christmas dinner very seriously. Every year, he
makes not one, but three turkeys. There’s the classic baked turkey, which fills
the house with that amazing, savory aroma; the fried turkey, which adds a
crispy, flavorful twist; and the smoked turkey, which has this rich, smoky
taste that makes it hard to pick a favorite. There’s something about seeing
those three turkeys lined up on the table that feels almost festive, like a
true Christmas feast, made with love.
Our family dinner isn’t just about the food, though. It’s a
time when everyone comes together, sharing stories and laughter around the
table. The house is filled with the sounds of conversations and the clinking of
glasses, and there’s always a sense of joy in the air. We’re a big family, and
every year, it seems like there’s one more person at the table. It’s chaotic
and loud, but it’s the kind of chaos that makes you feel grateful to be
surrounded by people who love you.
For me, Christmas is a time to slow down and appreciate the
people in my life. It’s about holding onto the traditions that have been passed
down through the years and creating new memories with each holiday season.
Whether it’s sharing my Christmas list with my grandma or gathering around the
table for our family feast, these moments are what make Christmas so special.
And every year, I’m reminded of why this season will always be my favorite.
I love this! Christmas and the holiday season is also one of my favorite time of the year, as it makes you realize you have so much to be grateful for. As somebody who comes from a large family, Thanksgiving and Christmas are the main times of the year when my whole family is able to get together, gather around a table and catch up. This also means that every gathering is chaotic, just as yours sounds like it is. I hope you have a great Thanksgiving with your family!
