New hobbies: Turning into a story teller
There's something really cool about being transported to a world that exists only in someone else's mind. An affection for fictional worlds has always been a part of me, and recently, I've found a new passion for creating characters and crafting my own stories.
My love for movies and the immersive experiences they offer
sparked this journey. Watching a well-crafted film or reading an organized and
vast fiction story is like stepping into another universe, where every detail,
from the characters' motivations to the landscapes they live, has been
meticulously constructed. The sense of wonder and creativity drove me to
explore the art of storytelling myself.
I’m inspired by authors like George R.R. Martin, J.K.
Rowling, J.R.R. Tolkien, and Frank Herbert. Creators of entire worlds and
mythologies that feel as though they actually do exist. Their ability to dream
up realms with their own rules, histories, and cultures and then share those
visions on paper is something I deeply admire. They don't just write stories
they build universes with characters with complex backgrounds, desires, and
conflicts.
For me, creating characters starts as an idea, a trait, a
habit, or a quirk and then grows into fully realized personalities with their
own temperament and attributes. Each character has a story to tell, and I love
the process of uncovering what makes them tick, what challenges they face, and
how they evolve over time. It’s a bit like playing with the building blocks of
a world, each piece fitting together to form something unique.
Writing fiction has also become a way for me to explore
themes and emotions that are sometimes hard to express in everyday life. It’s a
space where I can let my imagination run whichever way it wants.
While I'm still early in my journey as a storyteller, I’m
excited by the possibilities that lie ahead. Writing fiction has become a way
to connect with that same sense of wonder I’ve always felt while reading or
watching movies. It’s about creating a space where anything can happen.
The breakdown of your storytelling journey is really unique! Starting with a simple trait and turning it into a full character is such a cool way to create. You can really feel your passion for world-builders like Tolkien and Herbert, and it’s awesome that you're using that inspiration to make your own stories.
ReplyDeleteYour storytelling journey sounds like it has been a great outlet for you to explore your creativity. I also really like to read a book that has major character developments. You should write a blog about what you're writing.
