Celebrating a Decade of ONU Lacrosse: Alumni Weekend
This Friday marks an exciting milestone for the ONU lacrosse
program as we host our annual alumni game at 7 p.m. on October 4th. This year
is particularly special as we celebrate our program's 10th anniversary. Every
year, we come together to honor the players who have worn the Polar Bear jersey
before us, and this time, for the first time ever, the alumni team will
actually outnumber the current squad! It’s amazing to reflect on how far our
program has come in just a decade. We’ve built a strong tradition, and I’m
especially looking forward to catching up with my friends and former teammates,
Ben and Bennet. These guys were seniors last season and graduated, but more
than just great leaders on the field, they were even better friends off it. I
miss the little things, like our film sessions with our position group. Those
sessions weren't just about breaking down plays, they were times when we could
just be ourselves, share a few laughs, and goof around with the fellas. Those
are memories I’ll always cherish.
It’s also going to be interesting to see how this year’s
squad performs. While we might have fewer numbers, the talent on this roster is
undeniable. The alumni team will have the numbers advantage, but I have no
doubt this current squad will show up ready to play and compete. So, as we take
the field this weekend, it’s not just about reliving the glory days. It’s about
celebrating our lacrosse family, the friendships that go beyond the game, and
the tradition that continues to grow stronger with every alumni game.
